本文作者在新旧世纪之交的时候，应邀赴法国、毛里塔尼亚参加了由法国政府组织承办的法国—— 毛里塔尼亚国际雕刻专题座谈会。现将作者在法国、毛里塔尼亚期间的所见、所闻、所历的日记片段转述，以飨读者。
At the turn of the century, the author was invited to France and Mauritania to attend the symposium on the French-Mauritania international sculpture hosted by the French government.
