Some vendors have moved from videoconferencing products to another hot market: data conferencing. Data conferencing products are gaining the consensus of vendors that it offers more tangible benefits than video conferencing, which is expensive and difficult to install. Earlier this month, Northern Telecom introduced an upgraded version of the Symposium data conferencing software, and VideoServer introduced a new line of LAN collaboration servers. In the meantime, DataBeam has released a server designed for remote training and education, and Outreach has also upgraded its data sharing server conferencing series.
