US ethanol producer BlueFire recently said the company plans to build the first commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in the United States to produce biofuels using agricultural wastes. BlueFire plans to build a 3.2 million gallon / a (12.1 million liters / a) cellulosic ethanol plant near Lancaster, CA (about 100 km north of Los Angeles). The unit is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2009. Specific details did not disclose.
