今春伟大的全民性的抗旱斗争中,全省大力展开了开发利用地下水运动。规模大、速度快、质量好,全省有140多万人的井泉专业队伍,投入大搞机井的高潮。截止3月底全省已完成机井7万多眼,正施工的5万多眼。平均日进度达1,500眼,特别机井质量比过去那一年都好;据新乡、洛阳、南阳、郑州市等五个专市的11,998眼机井的检查,深度10—30米的占16.3%,30—50米的占39.8%,50—70米的占39.7%,70—100米的占3.3%,100米以上的有9眼,10米以下的140眼。不少地区开展挖取深层水、大打自流井运动,据南阳、开封、新乡、许昌等地区的不完全统计已打成自流井556眼,自流泉23,486眼,一般井深100
