大家盼望很久的全国自然科学名词审定委员会成立了,这是我国科学界的一件大事,我内心十分高兴,热烈祝贺! 科学名词需要审定与统一,才便于交流经验和学生学习。如果名词各行其是,必然会形成错乱,不能互相了解。在旧中国许多科学家曾努力把外文科学名词,译成汉文,花了不少功夫,但由于未曾统一,各行其是,学生学习须死背硬记外文名词,增加了学习困难,我们老一辈人都深知彼时的苦楚。解放以后,党对科学名词的统一工作十分重视,五十年代初,中国科学院成立名词室,在郭沫若院长主持下,审定了一批基础科学
