Art history is synonymous with style history, which is, at any rate, the basic assumption that most art historians make in their studies. Since the advent of the discipline of art history, this assumption has existed. Occasionally someone challenged this assumption, but no one really reversed it. Even critics of it find it useful because art historians, with the help of formal research, can find out the basic characteristics common to all works of art. The concept of style allows us to construct a model that allows us to go beyond the concrete limitations of historical context; the concept of style also allows us to determine the parameters of a work of art in its development. Therefore, we can break down inherited cultural prejudices, freely watch the various cultures in the museum from time to time, work in all times, and study the history of world art history in a broad scope.
