我写作,是因为我愿把内心深处无声的痛苦用文字表达出来。白先勇,华裔美籍作家。1937年生于广西桂林。父亲白崇禧是国民党高级将领。抗日战争时期他先后在重庆、上海、南京居住过。1948年到香港,后赴台湾。台湾大学外文系毕业。1963年到美国爱荷华大学爱荷华作家工作室从事创作研究,1965年获硕士学位。之后任美国加州大学圣塔巴巴拉分校教授,讲授中国语言文学课。
I write because I want to express my heart’s silent pain in words. Bai Xianyong, Chinese American writer. Born in Guilin, Guangxi in 1937. Father Bai Chongxi is a senior KMT general. During the Anti-Japanese War, he successively lived in Chongqing, Shanghai and Nanjing. In 1948 to Hongkong, went to Taiwan. Department of Foreign Languages, National Taiwan University. In 1963 to the United States Iowa University Iowa writer studio engaged in creative research, in 1965 by a master’s degree. Later, he was a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he taught Chinese language and literature.
