2005年8月,国际光学界的权威组织——国际光学委员会(International Committee for Optics,简称ICO)将要在中国长春召开它的第20届代表大会。这是ICO自1946年成立以来第一次在中国召开全体成员国代表大会,常有人将这种会议比喻为国际光学界的“奥林匹克运动会”。显然,世界各成员国都以举办这种会议为荣。事实上,也只有得到国际学术界公认和给予高度评价的ICO成员国的光学学会才被批准主办这种大会。这不能不使我们中国光学界同仁感到欣慰和
In August 2005, the International Committee for Optics (ICO), the authority of the international optical community, will hold its 20th Congress in Changchun, China. This is the first time that the ICO has convened a general assembly of member states in China since its founding in 1946 and has often been compared to the “Olympic Games” of the international optical community. Obviously, all member countries of the world are proud to hold such a conference. In fact, only the Optical Society of the member states of the ICO, which is recognized and highly regarded by the international academic community, was approved to host the conference.
