The FDA approved a real-time detection of respiratory viruses called ProFlu + on January 18, 2008. The test utilizes a versatile technology platform to simultaneously perform different tests against 4 common respiratory viruses in 3 hours on a sample of secretions taken from the back of the throat of patients including Type A and Type B influenza viruses and A And type B respiratory syncytial virus.
