位于塔里木盆地南缘的新疆和田地区,不仅是著名的玉石之乡,还是丝绸之路上著名的丝绸之乡、东方地毯之乡。玉石、地毯、丝绸被称为和田地区的“三大宝”。具有传奇色彩和浓郁民族色彩的“和田三宝”吸引了众人的眼光。“和田三宝”中首屈一指的当属和田玉。新疆和田自古出美玉,专家考证,早在丝绸之路之前,便有一条玉石之路,而和田则被中国古人称作“玉河”。大名鼎鼎的和田玉,产于昆仑山中以及玉龙喀什河和喀拉喀什河。
