This article focuses on the terrestrial plant remains as a source of oil generation problems. Taking fatty acids as an example, the thermodynamic process of coal formation and oil formation as well as the evolution and pyrolysis mechanism of carbon and hydrogen components of various organic substances in sediments are elucidated. Finally, the paper discusses the various terrestrial biomarkers in oil and other issues.
