As early as 1910, Davis [1] reported the use of amniotic membrane in skin grafts. Now it has been widely used in surgical forming. In 1940 De Rorth [2] reported the special role of amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) in the treatment of ocular surface disease, but the study was shelved for decades until the late 1990s after Tseng [3]
