中国营造学社成立于1930年2月, 是我国唯一的以中国古建筑和建筑科学为研究对象的民间学术组织。其创始人为朱启钤先生。1931年,梁思成担任该学会法式部主任。而后,刘敦桢先生也来到该学社,任文献部主任。其后不久,单士元、劭力工、莫宗江、陈明达、刘致平等人也先后加入该学社,组成强有力的研究机构。1939年9月至1940年2月,由梁思成、刘敦桢、莫宗江、陈明达组成的调查小组,调查了四川省和当时西康省的31 个市、县的古建筑、石刻及其它文物107 项。新津观音寺的有关文物考察文章发表
Founded in February 1930, China Construction Society is the only non-governmental academic organization in China that studies ancient architecture and building science. Its founder is Mr. Zhu Qiji. In 1931, Liang Sicheng served as director of the French Department. Later, Mr. Liu Dunzhen also came to the school, director of literature department. Shortly thereafter, Shan Shi Yuan, Qiao Li Gong, Mo Zongjiang, Chen Mingda, Liu Chih-ping and others also joined the society to form a powerful research institute.
