中国女人湖南女学被查封1904年9月下旬,湖南女学学堂被查封。原因竟是一个叫王先谦的乡绅要纳其侄子的寡妻为妾未能如愿。当时那位寡妇为躲避乡绅王先谦,回娘家后入湖南女学学堂就读。王先谦怀恨在心,指使其妹夫杜本崇上书清廷,说湖南女学学堂并无实用,只能伤风败俗,要求立即封闭。本来建立湖南女学学堂就一直受到封建顽固派官绅的非难,清廷不问青红皂白就批准了这个状子。这所成立于1903年6月10 日的女学,刚开办一年就被扼杀了。后来那位寡妇被一个好心的大娘养护起来,老乡绅王先谦的纳妾美梦成了泡影。
