The public music appreciation class in ordinary colleges and universities is an important part of its public courses and also an important complement to the students’ knowledge structure. As a public course, it has been opened in most colleges and universities in China. The construction of teaching materials is basically similar to that of courses. However, it is rare to study history as a discipline and functional structure of courses. The author sorts out the theoretical sources, education status quo and functions and values of this course from the history and the status quo, theory and practice, and makes a more comprehensive analysis in order to better study and promote the curriculum thinking and development.
