Quaternary ammonium base in Corydalis yanhusuo (such as dehydro-fumarone A) can significantly prolong animal survival under hypoxic conditions. The authors used a spectrophotometric method to determine the quaternary ammonium salt content in Yanhusheng raw products, vinegar fried, stir-fried and salt fried in three kinds of processed products of Yanhusheng. Propranolol was used as a positive control.
