在日趋现代化的北京,要想寻一处充满老北京味的旧时街衢,什刹海自然是经常挂在老北京嘴边的地方。几次到北京,友人们都说,要想看看老北京,什刹海是一定得去的。于是,这一次,我们翻开地图,按图索骥,认认真真地把什刹海从纷繁的地名中寻觅出来。什刹海是由什刹前海、什刹后海和西海组成的,环湖是保存得较为完整的旧时街市。我觉得仅一个后海的名字,就有如家园的后院,亲切温馨,宁静致远,把北京什刹海从车水马龙中脱颖出来,以至于虽然对于它还如此陌生,却实实在在有几分偏爱起来。什刹海的确是一个使人感到有无限韵味的好去处。这里几乎没有北京通常所见的高大的水泥建筑群,只有一式的北京灰色胡同,杨柳依稀,一间间小门面的商店,还有几处斑驳的旧墙,透着旧时北京的影子。街面上干干净净,小吃店清清爽爽。放眼望去,临街的各式风格的招牌,在
