本文根据毛竹(Phyllostachys Pubescens)出、退笋的规律,提出在竹林冬笋形成后的不同时期,适时、适量选挖少量浅鞭冬笋,对出土春笋成竹数量及质量均无明显影响;出土后的春笋,可按退笋表现特征,于春分后10天、清明后5天及谷雨后分期选挖退笋及少数直径小、病虫危害的竹笋,不会影响成竹数量和质量,而退笋利用率可达93%。
