国际岩石力学学会(ISRM)是一个非政府性的国际学术组织,主要宗旨是促进国际岩石力学工作者的合作和学术交流。学会成立于1962年,总部设葡萄牙里斯本。国际岩石力学大会约四年召开一次。第一届大会于1966年在葡萄牙里斯本召开,第二、三届分别于1970年和1974年在南斯拉夫贝尔格莱德和美国丹佛召开。本届(第四届)大会是在瑞士蒙特诺举行的。各届大会间隔期间常召开国际专题讨论会或区域性会议。国际岩石力学学会会员资格有三种:国家团体会员、个人会员和赞助会员。所谓赞助会员主要提供经济资助。现该学会有国家团体会员32个,个人会员4380人,赞助会员130个。国际岩石力学学会下设一些委员会,属学术性的委员会有;
The International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) is a non-governmental international academic organization whose main purpose is to promote cooperation and academic exchanges among international rock mechanics. Founded in 1962, the Institute is headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal. The International Conference on Rock Mechanics is convened about four years. The first conference was held in Lisbon, Portugal in 1966. The second and third sessions were held in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and Denver, USA in 1970 and 1974, respectively. The current (fourth) conference was held in Monteno, Switzerland. Each session of the General Assembly often holds an international symposium or a regional conference. There are three memberships in the International Society for Rock Mechanics: national group members, individual members and sponsoring members. The so-called sponsoring members mainly provide financial aid. The Institute now has 32 national group members, 4,380 individual members and 130 sponsoring members.
