The 36th Houston WorldFest World Film Festival was opened at the Meyerland Theater in Houston, USA, in April 2003. The ten-day film festival features the latest film and video production from 2002 to 2003. Despite the downturn in the U.S. economy and the shadow of the Iraq War, this World Film Festival received a total of 4,500 films of various categories. This is a 36-year record set for the World Film Festival. With 37 countries participating in the festival, more than 25,000 people attended the festival, a dramatic increase from the box office statistics of 2002.
