白菜,是一个古老的蔬菜品种。据考古学家说,我国新石器时期的西安半坡村遗址中,曾出土过白菜籽,算来已有六七千年历史了。到了汉代,白菜有了新名字,叫做“菘”,之后历代都出现过此名。三国时《吴录》载:“陆逊催人种豆、菘”;南齐时在《齐书》中又发现有“武陵王留王俭设食盘中菘菜而已”之记载。著有《本草经集注》的陶弘景曾说:“菜中有菘,最为常食”。又《南齐书·周顒传》载有如下一段:周顒清贫寡俗,独处山舍,终日常蔬食。文惠太子问他:何味最佳?顒曰:“春初早韭,秋末晚菘”。《闽书》云:“张九龄自函京携种归曲江种之,闽中呼为张相菘》。王世懋(明人)在《瓜蔬
Cabbage is an ancient vegetable variety. According to archaeologists, in the site of the Banpo Village in Xi’an during the Neolithic period, some 47,000 years of history were discovered. In the Han Dynasty, cabbage has a new name, called “菘”, after which all generations have seen this name.
