On September 4, the Symposium on the 10th Anniversary of the Implementation of the Law of Peasants and Cooperatives in the People’s Republic of China was held in Beijing. Zhang Baowen, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the symposium and delivered a speech. The Law of Farmer Cooperatives of Farmers was reviewed and approved by the Twenty-fourth Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People’s Congress on October 31, 2006 and came into force on July 1, 2007. Since the implementation of the law, the development of cooperatives has achieved remarkable results. As of the end of July 2017, the number of farmer specialized cooperatives registered in the business sector reached 1,933,000, an increase of 74 times that of the end of 2007 with an average annual increase of 60%.
