“达纳马特”等工业炸药,长期以来在其生产、运输、贮存或者使用过程中,曾多次发生过因爆炸而引起的重大事故。新型安全炸药U.S.M.(硝酸铵、硅胶和铝粉的浆状混合物)的出现,解决了以上问题,其特点如下: ①爆炸力与“达纳马特”或者高氯酸铵炸药大体相同。②标准的爆速为4000~4500米/秒,也可以改变其配方,使之达到4500~5500米/秒,如添加某种物料,还可以达到7000~8000米/秒。③未装雷管和起爆药之前,即使遇到冲击、电火花或者放置在火灾现场,也不会引起爆炸,故加工、贮运、使用各方面都极为安全。④不需要建高价的专用火药库,能节省投资。⑤耐水性能好,在海水中也能使用。③现场配料简易,使用方便。⑦爆炸产生的气体中不含CO等有害气体。 根据以上经济和安全方面的优点,有人把U.S.M.的出现,视为工业炸药的革命。菲律宾有一家公司已同日本签订了合同,将在1972年8月前建成月产500吨U.S.M.的炸药厂。
