山楂是我国的特产,在北京郊区栽培历史悠久,品种(优系)资源较丰富。有栽培面积较广的传统品种——小金星、大金星。还有不少山楂(Cratacqus Pinnatifida,Bqe.)及其变种大山楂(Cratacqus Pinnatifida var.mazor N.E.Br.)的实生类型。全市现有山楂树近60万株(包括少量食用、医药兼用山楂)。主要产地在门头沟、房山、密云、怀柔、延庆等山区县。其中结果树占总株数的四分之三。一般年产量为600万斤左右,历史最高年产将近1,000万斤,最低年产量为300多万斤。近年来,由于各部门的重视,加强了山楂树的管理,使产量和质量均有提高。如密云县东邵渠公社银冶岭大队有山楂树6000余株,因加强了技术管理,年产量一直保持在40—50余万斤,平均株产60—80斤左右,好果率达90％以上。
