《吕氏春秋》是惟一可确考成书年代的先秦子书，从古代散文发展角度看，它也是当时具有一定文学成分的散文著作。《吕氏春秋》的文学价值可概括为三个方面：一、奇艳的文采，可贵的形象。多样化的比喻、众多的神话寓言故事、细腻的描摹、富有个性的形象、独特的语言风格、异彩纷呈的词句，构成了《吕氏春秋》文学价值最突出的部分。二、宏伟的气魄、充畅的气势。《吕氏春秋》文章纵横铺陈，宏阔有力。这种特点是通过排比、蝉联、层递等辞格及铺排、层层推进、类比推进等综合运用表现出来的。三、分明的感情，显豁的褒贬。《吕氏春秋》对时世、人主进行了讥刺与批判，对理想社会、理想人格寄予了希望与赞扬，可谓褒贬分明，有一定的情感倾向性
