Objective To evaluate the control effect of occupational hazards in a coal mine expansion project. Methods Occupational health field survey, occupational health field test and checklist analysis were used to analyze and evaluate the project comprehensively according to occupational health examination data, occupational disease protection facilities and individual protection level. Results The main occupational hazards that exist in the current expansion and reconstruction projects include: dust, CO, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen sulfide, CO2, noise, high temperature, vibration and ionizing radiation. The passing rate of dust samples exceeded 80.0%, the pass rate of chemical poison samples was 100.0%, the noise equivalent sound level passed 62.5% (5/8), the pass rate of manual vibration was 0.0% and the pass rate of ionizing radiation was 100.0 %; Underground weather conditions are in line with health requirements. A total of 775 people participated in occupational health examination, 27 people were hearing impairment, accounting for 5.72% of the total number of contact noise; 251 people exposed to high temperature, reaching 13 diagnostic criteria for stage II hypertension, accounting for 5.18% of the total number of contact high temperature. The project’s site selection, layout, equipment layout, occupational hazards prevention measures, building hygiene, auxiliary health rooms, occupational health management system basically meet the requirements. Conclusion The control effect of occupational diseases in this project basically meets the requirements, but it is still necessary to further improve the control of dust-proof and anti-noise and strengthen occupational health management.
