On November 30, 2016, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) decided in Vienna that since the New Year’s Day of next year, the organization’s daily production will be reduced by 1.2 million barrels, and the total output will be limited to 32.5 million barrels per day. This is the first time in eight years that OPEC has reached an agreement on capping production and immediately boosted the price of oil. The sudden increase in the price of Brent crude oil surged through the $50 mark. The introduction of OPEC’s limited production and price-insured measures is expected to end the two-year slump in oil prices, and it is likely that the price of oil will be further increased by 50% in the coming year to reach the level of 75 US dollars.
