Our journal was informed that since April 1 this year, the quota quoted by the Russian government for importing poultry meat from China was only 3,100 tons in 2003, less than 1/10 of the 32,000 tons that China actually exported to Russia in 2002. According to the calculations of relevant departments, Russia’s move will damage the direct economic interests of over 300,000 peasants in China.
