全国著名文物专家苏东海先生来宜昌,谈及博物馆建设,披露轶事一则:上海市要建造一座高水平的历史博物馆,特地请美籍华裔世界级建筑专家贝聿铭设计。贝氏说:“请我设计,你们请不起,我给你们八个字,也不收你们的钱,你们回去按这八个字设计即可。”说罢写下八个字来,叫做“不古不今,不西不中”。据说今日作为上海市标志性建筑之一的博物馆,从外观建造到内部功能设施,正是按照贝氏这八个字的思路来设计的。
