激励,从心理学角度讲,就是指激发人的动机的心理过程。从管理学角度讲,指的是“一种能使个体将外来刺激内化为自觉行为的、健康的刺激,是促使完成目标的行为总是处于高度激活状态的某些内心心理需要的外在因素。”档案馆的人员激励与管理,是指运用能满足档案馆人员的需要、愿望等手段,来激发职工的工作动机,挖掘其潜能,调动其积极性,提高工作效率,使其为档案事业和档案工作贡献力量的一种过程,它是档案馆管理中常用的一种基本管理手段和管理方法。
