Objective To study the safety of consumption of Schisandra. Methods Schisandra after drying, crushing at low temperature, over 400 mesh sieve, obtained in the test meal. According to the standard GB 15193.13-2003, observe the side effects of schisandrins on the body after feeding for 90 d at the doses of 1.6, 3.2 and 6.4 g / kg. According to the standard of GB15193.14-2003, the pregnant rats were given the doses of 1, 2 and 4 g / kg of Schisandra sphenanthera on the 7th to 16th day of pregnancy to observe whether they have teratogenic effects on rats. Results After 90 days of schisandra chinensis feeding, the body weight of the male and female rats of 2 sexes at 6.4 g / kg decreased. The results of hematology showed that WBC, RBC and HGB were decreased in the 6.4 g / kg group and RBC and HGB in the 3.2 g / kg group were reduced at 45 and 90 days. The WBC of the male animals decreased at 45 days and 6.4 g / kg HGB decreased; 90 d, male rats 6.4 g / kg WBC decreased. The results of blood biochemistry showed that the ALT, AST and TC, GLU of the rats in the 6.4 g / kg group were increased, the levels of AST and TC and GLU increased in the 3.2 g / kg group, The levels of ALT, AST decreased, TP, ALB and GLU increased in 6.4 g / kg group, while ALT and AST decreased in 3.2 g / kg group. Teratogenicity test results show that Schisandra 4 g / kg reduces the embryo survival rate of pregnant rats. Conclusion Schisandra as a health food should limit the use of time limit, the daily dose should not exceed 2 g.
