The complex state of the building’s excitation force, especially its dynamism during the earthquake, has not been clearly understood so far and no full-scale test equipment has been used for experimental studies. Since the full-scale test facility of the Japan Construction Science Research Institute was completed, large-scale seismic tests became possible. Seismological workers in the United States have a great interest in this, which has led to the realization of the “U.S. and Japan cooperation in the use of large-scale experimental equipment for seismic engineering test plans.” In this plan, a seven-story building was selected as the experimental structure, and an advanced seismic test method that can reproduce the seismic response was used—“Pseudodynamic Test Method”. It is intended to achieve the following objectives through this research plan: to improve earthquake-resistant design; to better prevent loss of life and damage caused by earthquakes.
