船用汽轮机装置出现已近100年,由于其具有单机功率大(常规航母单机功率高达51.5MW,驱逐舰单机功率达37MW)、造价低、运行可靠性高、寿命长、技术成熟、运行经验丰富、可用劣质燃料等优点,故一直被世界各国大中型水面战舰采用。如俄罗斯的“基辅”级航母、“现代”级导弹驱逐舰和我国的“旅大”级导弹驱逐舰等均装用了汽轮机主动力装置。表1列出了1961~1990年期间世界各国建造的航母、巡洋舰、驱逐舰和护卫舰装用汽轮机主动力装置的情况。
