Needless to say, the need to automatically position enemy artillery and heavy infantry weapons when considering the complex relationship between environment and threats. There is a lack of a solid understanding of the radiation characteristics of these weapons and there are many unknowns when designing a positioning system. The purpose of this report is to raise awareness of the radiation characteristics of certain types of weapons, such as artillery, howitzers and mortars; caliber from 40 mm to 175 mm. The most recent specific data on the muzzle flash radiation can be found in References [1,2,3]. The spectral data in [3] may be useful within about 2 microns, but the nature of its calibration makes it impossible to obtain the intensity of the radiation from the calibration results. In addition, the implication of the range of flashes and the units of data reported is not clear, even if used to determine the intensity of the radiation.
