Greenblatt (1943-),Professor of Department of English of Harvard University,is father of New Historicism and Cultural Poetics.He plays a vital role in contemporary European and American intellectual realm.New Literature,advocated by Greenblatt,seeks and interprets the relationship between various texts from the perspective of poetic quality and political ideology,in the vast historic and cultural context.The theoretical approach as a unique methodology which links the text,social context and reality life,has a significant impact on architecture,cultural studies,anthropology,translation studies and many other areas.The core of New History and Cultural Poetics refers to the text interpretation and the interpreting strategy about literature and culture.This text interpretation describes and analyzes the work repeatedly in a specific historical period and cultural mechanisms and gives it complete collective experience.The human existence is replaced by a poetical metaphor model.We can say that all human activities can be likened to a cultural text and reflect the poetical charm of culture.The practice of text interpretation is the process of circulating,discussing and traducing among the various social forces.It means that the text interpretation is not only a literary event,but even a social and historical event.
