在新时期的小说创作中,李国文的作品是很有特色很有个性的,他的《冬天里的春天》,是新时期文学中第一部以独特的艺术结构描写人物心态的长篇小说,荣获首届茅盾文学奖。《花园街五号》是较早反映改革的长篇小说,在读者中引起强烈的反响。《月食》、《危楼记事》(之一)获得过全国优秀短篇小说奖。其它作品也很有特色,或有深邃的哲理,或有浓郁的诗情,或有神秘的色彩,或有新颖的形式,给读者良多的思想启迪和艺术享受。
