β-谷甾醇(β-Sitosterol,β-Ситостерин)存在于棉子油、奎宁树皮以及其他多种植物中,苏联Xаиепкий教授曾从造纸工业纸浆生产下脚中提取得β-谷甾醇,并在其指导下由我国李振肃降解为去氢表雄酮乙酸酯以期代替胆甾醇作为甾体激素生产合成原料。根据近年报导,β-谷甾醇能够预防血液中胆甾醇过多症和动脉粥样硬化疾患,苏联在临床试验基础上已经确信能广泛用于预防和治疗动脉粥样硬化的药物,美国市场已经出售的次的林Cytellin制剂,其成分即为β-氢化谷甾醇和β-谷甾醇混合物的20%乳剂。鉴于β-谷甾醇曾考虑作为激素生产原料,现又作为药物之一,而其检验工作还很少见有报导。
β-Sitosterol (β-Ситостерин) is found in cottonseed oil, quinine bark, and various other plants.
