Large and small mice were simulated in the 6,000-meter plateau and continuously hypoxic for 7 days. The lung wet weight/weight (WW/BW) and dry weight/weight (DW/BW) were progressively increased. Left ventricular weight/right ventricular weight (LV/RV) progressively decreased. The hemoglobin content increased progressively. Lung water content (lung wet weight-pulmonary dry weight/dry lung weight WW-DW/DW) was lower in the hypoxic first day than in the control group, and was similar or slightly higher than the control value in the second and third days. Although the weight of the lungs continued to increase after 4 days, the lung water content began to decline and was lower than that of the control group and remained at a low level.
