玉米是我区粮食生产的一大优势,面积和产量均居秋粮作物之首。1989年种植面积433.5万亩,单产达到250—300公斤。面积和单产均比1980年前后翻了一番。其中推广普及优良杂交种起着十分重要的作用。但是目前我区玉米普遍缺种,据统计,1990年的种子只落实了600多万公斤,按全区计划种植玉米450万亩计算,尚缺种子500万公斤。多年来,我区玉米种子能够自给,有的年份有余,尚能调出,而目前基本靠调进,当地很少制种。在过去玉米种植面积只有
