Portland News: Prior to intubation or surgical treatment of urinary incontinence or urinary retention, close attention should be paid to the medication the patient is taking. Many people often overlook the commonly used drugs have side effects on the urethra. Sometimes just removing a drug from the patient’s treatment plan or reducing the dose may reduce it, and sometimes simply adding a single drug will restore normal urination.
