After the Cold War ended, in accordance with the Soviet-American agreement on reducing the scope of the Treaty on the Elimination of Strategic Nuclear Weapons, the U.S. government authorized the Department of Energy to draw up plans and embark on a phased breakdown of the repatriated nuclear weapons. The news spread like wildfire, causing uproar in the international community. To this end, the U.S. government convened relevant experts to discuss countermeasures. Experts at the conference had endless disputes. However, no consensus has yet emerged on how to properly handle batches of nuclear weapons. At present, the Ministry of Energy decided to dismantle the detonators first, and then plutonium core will be closed deep underground. However, people are deeply concerned about the reliability of the device’s radiation isolation. Due to the future destabilization of nuclear materials, human beings in today’s world are still at a serious threat of nuclear pollution and nuclear proliferation.
