In the 1880s, the first-generation skyscraper buildings became a reality after the completion of the process technologies such as elevators and steel frames. In 1883, a 10-story modern steel frame building, a residential insurance company building, was built in Chicago. It was called the first skyscraper, and the second Furth Building built in Chicago in 1889 and the beautiful building built in 1891 were more modernized. All the brick walls are not load-bearing and only serve as a wrap-around steel column. In the early 20th century, as the U.S. economic center moved to New York, a new generation of construction industry emerged in New York and successively constructed high-rise steel structures.
