At the annual meeting of the American Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics held in Pittsburgh, USA, Yuan Yaxiang, a fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the Outstanding Contribution Award of the American Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics and became the first recipient of the award in more than 30 years Honorable Chinese. Academician Yuan Yaxiang in the field of nonlinear optimization calculation method, trust region method, quasi-Newton method, conjugate gradient method
