Several simple principles of chemical quantity optical fiber sensors are introduced. An experimental device for measuring the concentration of methane in the atmosphere was established with domestic components. The measurement sensitivity of this device is about 7000ppm, which is 13% of the minimum explosion limit of methane gas in the atmosphere.
