The Agency’s dosimetry laboratory network is being expanded to provide support for the establishment of a rapid notification system for the processing and distribution of radioactive data. This is part of the Agency’s actions to implement the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident. In its terms, the Convention requires the parties to report radiation data to the Agency in the event of an incident whose impact may go beyond borders. The IAEA / WHO Laboratory Network, commonly known as the Secondary Standard Dose Laboratory (SSDL), was established over the past decade and now has about 50 experiments
