改革开放以来,湖北省襄樊市太平店镇充分发挥交通便利,毗邻市区、环绕大厂等优势,把依托大厂办企业作为富民奔小康的长期战略,初步形成了以纺织工业为“龙头”,以建筑建材和一村一品经济为“两翼”的乡镇企业体系,促进了全镇经济的健康发展。1991年,全镇工农业总产值实现1.89亿元,人均纯收入914元,分别是1982年的23倍和10倍。今春被国务院载入“中国名镇”史册。
