1957年10月4日,世界第一颗人造地球卫星顺利升空,拉开了航天时代的序幕。它开创了除陆地、海洋和大气层之外的人类第4个生存环境,因此受到包括中国在内的许多国家的重视,他们纷纷研制、发射和应用各类卫星。中国航天事业起步于1956年。这一年的10月6日,中国第一个火箭导弹研究机构——国防部第五研究院正式宣布成立,它标志着中国航天事业从此步入历史舞台。
October 4, 1957, the world’s first man-made earth satellite successfully launched, opened the prelude to the space age. It created the fourth human being of all kinds except land, sea and atmosphere. Therefore, it is valued by many countries including China. They have developed, launched and applied various satellites. China’s space industry started in 1956. On October 6 of this year, China’s first rocket and missile research institute, the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense, was formally announced. It marks the beginning of China’s space industry’s entry into the historical arena.
