Using computer aided technique, the somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) of the median nerve and posterior tibial nerve were recorded in 23 normal subjects and 25 diabetic patients. The results showed that the peak latency of SEPs and the slowing of the afferent fibers of the median nerve and posterior tibial nerve were found in most of the patients. Some patients had central conduction time (N13-N20 conduction time and P40-N80 conduction time) The extension. In addition, the waveform of the peripheral nerve three-phase potential also showed abnormal changes. These results suggest that diabetic patients not only have peripheral nerve conduction dysfunction, but also may have central nervous conduction dysfunction.
