翻开中共中央文献研究室编写的《周恩来传》和其他许多有关周恩来的书籍,都说周恩来祖辈是从祖父一辈起,由浙江绍兴迁居到淮安的,而周家人对这一问题的说法更是各不相同,可谓众说纷纭。 周恩来1964年8月2日下午在中南海西花厅对他的部分亲属说:“到我们祖父一辈就迁到了淮安了。” 周恩来的胞弟周恩寿1983年5月4日下午在北京医院802房对淮安的王树荣、王旭馗等说:“我们周家从绍兴迁居淮安大约在光绪中后期年间。” 周恩来的堂弟周恩霔1982年6月18日在上海家中对淮安的宋立勤等说:“我曾祖樵水公大约在同治年间至苏北做官的。”
