美国女作家凯特·肖邦的《一个正派女人》描写了巴罗达夫人面对丈夫的好友产生感情起伏的故事,但作者却不直接描写人物的复杂感情,而是以微言曲笔将叙述呈现给读者,读者经过反复玩味才能解开文字蕴含的情感密码。针对小说结尾巴罗达夫人克服了什么的争议,经过对文本的细读,认为巴罗达夫人以理智克服了诱惑,用理性的爱升华了感性的情。肖邦在文中利用全知视角的权威声音和象征意象塑造了巴罗达夫人这一正派女人的形象。
